WiDS Guayaquil Terms and Conditions

By registering for any WiDS Guayaquil event, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions. Please read carefully before completing your registration.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: WiDS GUAYAQUIL 2026 Welcome to the official website of Women in Data Science (WiDS) Guayaquil 2026, organized by the TAWS - ESPOL club. By registering on this portal, you agree to comply with the following terms and conditions: 1. REGISTRATION AND TEAM FORMATION POLICY Individual Registration: Grants access to the conference, but does not guarantee a spot in the Datathon. Individual participants will be placed on a waitlist to join teams with vacancies. Group Registration: Registering with missing members or failing to meet the 50% female leadership requirement does not secure a spot in the hackathon. Availability and Autonomy: The "Complete Group" feature is subject to availability. The acceptance of new members depends exclusively on the choice of each team at the time of their registration. Confirmation: Official participation is only valid upon receiving the Confirmation Email from TAWS. 2. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY AND ETHICS (PLAGIARISM AND CHEATING) Transparency is a pillar of the event. The following rules will apply: Originality: All code, analysis, and reports must be the team's own original work. Plagiarism, purchasing solutions, or copying repositories from previous editions is strictly prohibited. Use of AI: The use of generative AI tools is permitted as a support mechanism, provided its use is declared and it does not replace the team's critical reasoning. Prohibited Collaboration: The exchange of code or prediction files between different teams is not allowed. Sanctions: Any indication of cheating, data manipulation, or lack of ethics will result in immediate disqualification and the respective report to ESPOL authorities, if applicable. 3. THE DATATHON: CHALLENGE AND DELIVERABLES The challenge uses Survival Analysis to predict the "Time-to-Threat" for wildfires, addressing Public Safety and Biodiversity Loss. Mandatory Deliverables: Predictions on the test set (.csv). Reproducible source code in a GitHub Repository. Executive Report (insights + methodology). Presentation (Pitch Deck for defense). External datasets used (if applicable). 4. CONFERENCE AND IMAGE USE Conference Terms: These are preliminary and may change up until the start of your registration. Image and Social Media: The participant authorizes the capture of photos and videos for promotional use on the official social media and channels of TAWS and ESPOL. 5. IN-PERSON EVENT RULES AND LABORATORIES For activities on the ESPOL campus: Infrastructure Use: The borrowed equipment and furniture in the laboratories must be treated with care. The user is responsible for any damage caused by misuse. Food and Beverages: Bringing food and drinks into the computer labs is strictly prohibited to preserve the integrity of the equipment. Personal Belongings: Each participant is solely responsible for their belongings (laptops, backpacks, cell phones, etc.). The TAWS club and ESPOL are not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal items during the event. 6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND PRIVACY Participants retain ownership of their code but authorize its academic dissemination. Personal data will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Law of Ecuador. 7. TECHNICAL RESOURCES AND MODIFICATIONS Development: Python (Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Lifelines, XGBoost). Modifications: The organization reserves the right to modify the schedule due to force majeure, notifying participants through official channels.
